Michael Radich was born in New Zealand. He received his PhD in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University, and currently teaches and researches at Victoria University of Wellington (in New Zealand). His fields of research specialisation are early medieval Chinese Buddhism (especially in the fifth and sixth centuries), Mahayana Buddhist texts and ideas, the transfer of Buddhism to China, and Yogacara Buddhist philosophy. He is married with two children.
